Handmade wax paper envelope and postcard with a drawing made dipping a blank pen in a created scent I made to resemble the smell of graphite. Since graphite has no scent its reminiscent of a sharpened pencil and eraser. The scent is sealed and completely contained in the envelop until the recipient opens the letter and inhales the evaporated drawing. On the bottom of the envelop is written “sometimes silence is all we can share”. This is one part of an ongoing project “In the Shadow of Constellations” and is based in part with several conversations I’ve had about nature, a quality of disappearance, and personal experiences exuded by catching a smell of something in the air.
